"Good writing requires larger blocks of time. Otherwise the flow gets lost, the momentum withers away. It needs to be preserved at least until the first draft is out. Then I can attempt to improve it in smaller chunks of time."
I don't know why, but I'd like to see some pictures of these cooks. They seem like an interesting subject for photographs. Anyway, I really liked the way you described the experience of taking your laptop to a café and not writing anything. It's happened to me so many times (most of them). I've even tried bringing a notebook instead, but nothing works. I don't write in cafés, even though my romantic side wants to. Well written, Hrvoje. Looking forward to the next one:)
It’s so hard for me to say exactly what it is (I’d need to set aside a much larger chunk of time to draft it all out) that I like so much about your writing, Hrvoje. But there is something about it, something about your voice and style, that just feels so authentic. That, of course, doesn't do it justice, but yeh, nice essay.
I also really liked how you started a bunch of sentences with ‘people’ — that repetition worked well. :)
thank you Michael. every post that I publish needs to have that “something” even though I don’t know what that “something” is. otherwise I don’t publish it.
I know exactly what you mean! I, too, am always chasing that “something”. And while I can’t put it into words, I tend to be able to feel it when it’s there, thankfully.

Indeed, I recognized myself in this.
