I have actually spent some time (and money) unpacking the negative impact Friends has had on my adult life and my expectations of friendship. It's lovely to know I'm not the only one.
Oh my. I haven't spent money on this but I've realized that sitcoms from the 90's have negatively affected me with their lies. Friends is the prime example.
I enjoyed much of what you said Shime, I especially like the idea of taking one great photo a day - that is something I’d like to try as well.
But my favourite thought of yours was definitely this one:
“The TV show Friends gave people the wrong picture of friendships and how they look for most people and caused people to think they are weird if they don’t hang out daily with their small group of friends.” — I couldn’t agree more.
Thank you. It's a great way to learn about photography: how do you capture the mundane in the way that is interesting? I appreciate photographers and writers who do that well the most.
Re: Living in a small town. I moved from the busy north to a much slower south. People are much nicer here. I appreciate and give more grace to humanity a little more now as well.
Great post, Shime; I agree re social media, I love exchanging emails with my friends, never understood the appeal of the show with the same name, and I too wish I remembered to take daily photos. I am lucky to live in a small village where several of our neighbours have become amazing friends; we all know how precious this is, we all nurture this as and when we can. I always hope the ripples of good will create more good; even if they are small ripples, they inspire more goodness.

Yes, to be able to make the most seemingly ordinary thing seem extraordinary is a great skill. I appreciate that also.

Thank you Mya. What a wonderful way to think about it.
